Virtual Assistants are now playing an integral part of businesses the world over. With the net becoming the heart of almost all the businesses, almost everything can be dome virtually. Sure enough with the popularity of the VA’s growing many myths abound about the profession. Some of these myths are:

1. VA’s are costly: This is an absurd statement. Virtual Assistants charge the same like that of regular employees sometimes less. Even if they do charge a bit more it is better to note that these assistants are highly skilled in their jobs and specialize in the particular field/s that businesses have hired them to do. It is understood that once a job is outsourced to a VA, rest assured the job gets completed well within the time frame and executed professionally with the hirer having nothing to complain about it. Considering the professionalism and the dedication that goes into the job, costing a little more on the pocket is but understandable.

2. Offshore VA’s lack the professionalism that the US VA’s possess – This is a common misconception that many in the business industry have. Offshore VA’s especially Asian VA’s are as good as their American counterparts. In fact they are better off with respect to their hardwork, dependability and knowledge. With regard to their communication skills, they can speak very well and to top it are very knowledgeable. The only difference is that the Asian VA’s charge less than their American counterparts for the same quality of work.

3. Offshore VA’s are difficult to be reached – This is again a far fetched thing as technology and communications have developed to such an extent that it is just as easy to talk with your VA sitting in Philippines as with someone in the adjoining room.

4. VA’s can be hired through freelance sites – It is a risk that can be avoided at all costs to hire VA’S through freelance sites. Because applicants in these freelance sites are not screened or checked to see if they are truly qualified to complete a project. It is best not to take chances and regret later.

5. Can VA’s be trusted with confidential information – Many virtual assistants are bonded or can get bonded. Also request for references or contact with the present clients that the virtual assistant is currently involved with can be verified and checked. All this leaves the business house no cause to worry.
